ADHSpace connects parents and guardians with vetted, ADHD-informed coaches for young people under the age of 18. This policy sets out how we protect the wellbeing of young people using this pathway, and what parents, guardians, and coaches can expect from us. ADHSpace is not a medical service. Coaching does not replace clinical assessment, diagnosis, or treatment.
This policy applies to any enquiry or coaching relationship arranged through ADHSpace's under-18 support pathway, including parents/guardians, the young people they are seeking support for, and coaches who have opted in to offer this support.
Only a parent or legal guardian may initiate contact with a coach on behalf of a young person through ADHSpace. Before any coach details are shown, the parent/guardian must confirm they are the legal parent or guardian, and agree to the terms of this policy. For children under 13, a parent or guardian must be present during coaching sessions. For young people aged 13–17, sessions may take place with the parent/guardian's awareness and availability, even where not directly present, at the parent/guardian's discretion. Coaches reserve the right to request parental presence at any session, regardless of the young person's age, if they consider it appropriate.
Any coach offering support to under-18s through ADHSpace must hold, and keep current: • An Enhanced DBS certificate, including a check against the children's barred list • Professional indemnity insurance that explicitly covers work with minors These documents are reviewed by ADHSpace before a coach is permitted to appear in under-18 search results, and coaches are responsible for notifying ADHSpace promptly if either lapses or is renewed. ADHSpace does not independently verify the ongoing validity of DBS certificates beyond the point of submission, and relies on coaches to disclose any change in their status. Parents/guardians are encouraged to ask coaches directly about their checks and experience with young people if they have any questions.
If a parent, guardian, coach, or young person has a safeguarding concern relating to a coaching relationship arranged through ADHSpace, they should contact our designated safeguarding contact immediately at: safeguarding@adhspace.com All concerns will be treated seriously and confidentially, and where appropriate, escalated to the relevant authorities (such as local children's services or the police) without delay. ADHSpace will cooperate fully with any statutory investigation. If a concern relates to immediate risk of harm, we advise contacting emergency services (999) or your local children's social care team directly, rather than waiting for a response from ADHSpace.
ADHSpace logs consent given by parents/guardians at the point of accessing the under-18 pathway, including a timestamp and reference to the version of this policy agreed to. Limited information about the young person (first name and age only) is collected to facilitate matching with an appropriate coach. All data is handled in accordance with ADHSpace's Privacy Policy and UK GDPR.
ADHSpace is a signposting and matching platform. We carry out vetting checks as described above, but we do not supervise, record, or otherwise directly oversee coaching sessions. Parents and guardians remain responsible for the ongoing suitability of the coaching relationship for their child, and are encouraged to raise any concerns promptly using the contact details above.
This policy will be reviewed regularly and updated as needed. Material changes will be reflected in the "last updated" date above.
